MYSURU: BJP leaders on Sunday said that they are waiting for the permission from governor to go ahead against chief minister in Arkavathy denotification scandal and they are hopeful of governor giving permission to their demand to prosecute chief minister
Siddaramaiah.
At a joint press meet here, opposition leader in the council K S Eshwarappa and V Somanna said they have twice approached the governor and sought his audience to convince him on the alleged irregularities in Arkavathy denotification issue . “ Till today we have not received any communication from the governor” Somanna claimed and said they are optimistic on the issue that governor will give an audience and permission to prosecute chief minister . “ Unlike Congress, we don’t want to convert the governor’s office into a party” he said pointing out how Congress behaved and allegedly misused governor’s office during Hansaraj Bharadwaj’s period. There were three gates to enter governor’s office then, but today there is only one door for the people to enter the governor’s office” he added sarcastically .
Somanna said there is no question BJP approaching or filing its submission before the Justice Kempanna commission and party is firm on the issue’ BJP has boycotted the judicial commission and we will adhere to this decision” he said , adding that there is no question of BJP approaching the commission. “ Party has nothing to do with people who have submitted their petitions to the commission” he pointed out .
In reply , Somanna said party has discussed Arkavathy denotification issue in detail and worked out a charter of allegations against chief minister. “ If we get an audience with governor , we are sure of convincing the governor on the prima facie in the matter and persuade him to give a permission to prosecute the chief minister” he said.
When asked whether BJP will directly approach the court in the backdrop of various Supreme court rulings where apex court has ruled that there is no need for permission from governor in corruption cases, he said they are aware of this fact and they will wait for some more time for governor’s reaction . “ It is a matter time , definitely BJP will take the issue to a logical end and we will not spare chief minister in this land scandal”, he reiterated denying BJP has turned soft on chief minister Siddaramaiah . Eshwarappa intervened to say that it is wrong to suspect BJP has compromised on the issue with the government. “ BJP is an opposition party in Karnataka and it will keep fighting peoples issues and government on wrong doings” he added.
